Introduction
The Hawaii Data Clearinghouse Web site, created and maintained by the
U.S. Geological Survey
(USGS), is a gateway to digital data for the Hawaiian Islands. This
Web site is designed to ensure that all interested users (scientists,
engineers, resource managers, developers, and the public) have quick and
easy access to a wide range of data and GIS products. The primary goals
of this clearinghouse are to facilitate the coordination of research,
monitoring, and environmental-management activities in Hawaii and to ensure
the widest possible access to data and information resulting from such
activities.
Digital Data
The site is organized by island, and both vector and raster data are
available for all eight large islands. The availability of the type of
digital data and number of layers varies by island. All data have
FGDC-compliant metadata.
Vector data include the following types:
- Boundary
- Road
- Hydrography
- Hypsography (contours)
- Soil
Raster data include the following types:
- Digital Elevation Model (DEM), National Elevation Dataset (NED)
- Landsat 7 satellite imagery
- Digital Raster Graphic (DRG)
